1. MATCH REPORT - KO Cup Semi Final
  2. Sunday 14th March
  3. Bury Tigers 2 v Bury Town 0
  4. Jarrad and I missed all the excitement last week,( 6-1, well done chaps) but after reading the mystery  MAGS  report which covered the match in such fine detail and sheer enthusiasm we actually felt like we were there watching the game, every kick, header and goal,   it was incredible , so thank-you for that , mystery person (  although Elliot turning up on Saturday in a new ALL WHITE training kit which must have cost at least £15 rather confirmed my suspicions of who it was !!).  This week Tigers welcomed Bury Town Youth to the  Theatre of dreams for a knockout cup semi-final. Well done to grounds-man Deano Betts who’s  hard work was obvious as we arrived with the pitch looking so good and the lines were almost as white as Ellie’s new kit.

With a cup final spot up for grabs it was always going to be a tight match and right from the start the commitment of both teams was exceptional. Defences were on top,  Alex the Rock Walters, Jarrad Rio Lebbon, Scott Bale Betts, George Gallas Fox and James Fabregas Blyth all outstanding in Tigers rearguard. Towns own defence was well organised and both keepers were dominating their area’s impressively. Both teams had half chances at best in the first half, Josh Lampard Daly’s long range effort was well saved and Ellie P flicked a Josh Joe Cole Shutler corner just wide in Tigers best efforts and Iwan the cat Williams had to make a brave save at a strikers feet as Town searched for the opening goal too. The tension was too much for one young lady on the touch-line “  Come on Bury TOWN…… err sorry Tigers” she shouted loudly (I won’t name and shame……  but her son is TIGERS goalkeeper !) well at least she was watching and not standing behind Mr D chatting! Half-time 0-0

The 2nd half continued in the same vein as the 1st good tough tackling, top notch defending, it was a real good cup tie. Harvey Smithy D and Miles Drogba O were giving Tigers a much needed physical presence against a hard working Town team and there were signs that Tigers were beginning to get on top, Scott Mcgavin, Josh Shutler, Ellie P and Josh D began to get the ball down and create openings which Tigers lively front pair Luke Rooney Walker and Max Ronaldo Stubbs looked to capitalise on. Josh Shuts put in a couple of dangerous crosses, Scott Mc shot just wide, then Lukie W raced through only to be denied by a great last ditch tackle and soon after Josh D looked to have scored only to see his shot blocked on the Town goal line, so it was still a stalemate. Town tried their luck but a great block from James Fabergas Blyth kept them out. The tension was now at fever pitch with the large crowd becoming increasingly vocal, especially 1 section of the Very barmy army,    “Come on Ref” came a cry as Harvey D went down in the box but referee Ivor Whistle turned down Mrs Betts vigorous  appeal and so the cup tie went on. With neither side able to find the goal they needed in normal time the tie went into extra time and if the extra 20 minutes failed to separate the teams it would go to the dreaded penalty’s ! . Tigers started extra time brightly but it looked like only a mistake or a moment of magic would tip this cup tie one way or the other, Thankfully it happened and it was the latter, it was a moment of MCGAVIN MAGIC that sent Tigers wild, he picked up the ball 40 yards out before launching an unstoppable shot high over the stranded Town Goalkeeper into the net, WOW what a goal, worthy of winning any game and Scott quickly disappeared under a mass of delighted Tigers team mates, 1-0. Tigers were now flying high and Josh D’s excellent curling left footed shot unluckily skimmed the crossbar and went over and so at half time in extra time it was 1-0. Town didn’t give in and had a couple of early shots in the 2nd half as they strived to force an equaliser . Then another moment of magic sealed victory for Tigers, Lukie Walker turned his marker before sliding an exquisite pass through to Ronaldo Stubbs who coolly picked his spot and it was 2-0 and Bury Town’s brave troops were finally overcome. Well played to both sides on an excellent game. Keano and the Tiger Boys have done the club proud again this season and now have a deserved CUP FINAL to look forward to against Woodbridge Town (I think) in April well done boys!!

Thanks to everyone who helped out again this week, you’ll be pleased to know you can put your feet up next Sunday as we have a free day, Keano is going on a scouting mission to Real Madrid (have a good 1 mate).  C.u all soon.
