After 3 weeks without a game Tigers played twice in 3 days this week. We met in Sainsbury’s car park on Sunday and it was decided after much deliberation and with plenty of trepidation that boss Keano Walters would lead the convoy along the A14 to Ipswich, a brave decision bearing in mind that this is the man who only a couple of weeks ago flew all the way to Spain to watch a Real Madrid game, only to then somehow miss the entire match!!!..... Nice one mate, although in his defence I think the funny coloured Spanish water they kept forcing him to drink in the local bar may have contributed to his inability to find the massive Bernabeu Stadium in time ! Our decision to let him lead us did thankfully have a reliable safeguard in the shape of his wife Sally who would make sure that any ideas the boss had of finding one of Ipswich’s local watering holes on the way to the match would be quickly extinguished! So we reached our destination without any detours and the game commenced! Tigers were missing Harvey D, Luke W, Eban R and George Fox leaving a slightly threadbare squad to do battle with Valley Rangers. Tigers started brightly with Scott Gerrard McGavin stroking the ball around well and wingers Ellie P and Josh Joe Cole Shutler also beginning well too. Tigers deservedly opened the scoring when Miles Drogba Orlopp played a fine ball through to Max Ronaldo Stubbs and he scored at the 2nd attempt. 0-1. Despite dominating most of the 1st half Tigers conceded 2 poor goals and quickly found themselves 2-1 down. Josh Shutler then had a penalty shout turned away and Ronaldo Stubbs went close but Tigers couldn’t get back on level terms and so trailed at the break, 2-1. Tigers needed a bright start to the 2nd half but when an early punt forward from a Valley defender took a huge bounce off the hard ground and looped over Iwan the cat Williams into the net, it knocked the stuffing out of the Tigers who now trailed, 3-1. Valley were now full of confidence and Tigers had to dig deep. Slowly Tigers got back into the game, Scott McGavin, Ellie P, Ronaldo Stubbs and Josh Lampard Daly all went close but the much needed 2nd goal wouldn’t come, frustration grew and the boss Keano Walters was now prowling up and down the touch-line like a man who wished he had a couple of those pints of the Spanish water to hand!! The very barmy army tried hard to lift the Tiger boys but it was one of those mornings and Valley rapped up the game with the fine 4th goal, 4-1. It was all to much for a disgruntled Mr Blyth who started calling for a refund on his admission fee and his travel expenses too!! The final whistle blew and Keano had the job of lifting his bedraggled troops for a trip to Champions elect, Stow Town on Tuesday evening! MOM: Valley Rangers game. Scott Betts ; Outstanding attitude, good communication and great defending, well played mate. Tuesday 13th April Stow Town 3 v Bury Tigers 2 It was a cold, dull evening in Stowmarket as the Tigers took to the field with the same team as Sunday with the returning Eban Robson starting on the bench but there were some tactical and positional changes for the boys. After a tight start Stow struck the 1st blow, making it 1-0. Tigers needed to show some character now and they didn’t disappointed, giving as good as they got against a decent team and playing some excellent football along the way, Scott Garrard McGavin, Josh Lampard Daly, Josh Joe Cole Shutler and Alex the rock Walters all excellent in midfield whilst Miles Drogba Orlopp and Max Ronaldo Stubbs were giving Stows defence plenty to think about. Deservedly Tigers levelled the scores, Scott McGavin thumping in a 25 yard special, 1-1. As expected Stow responded well and only 3 fine saves from the outstanding Iwan the cat Williams kept them at bay. Tigers had a shot cleared off the line before Stow did find a way past Iwan again to lead at the break 2-1. The 2nd half continued in the same way as the 1st, excellent football from both sides, it was turning into a cracker of a game, Mr Blyth wasn’t asking for his money back tonight!! Tigers rallied and 2 long range shots whistled inches wide of Stows goal, Scott Mc, and Josh D being the unlucky chaps this time. Defensively Tigers were outstanding especially in the second half, James Febregas Blyth, Scott Bale Betts, Jarrad Rio Lebbon and Elliot Johnson Pearson all in top notch form. Alex the rock Walters was next to try his luck as he sent in a stunning 30 yard shot which dipped agonisingly over the bar. The very barmy army were in good voice as the excitement reached fever pitch, the poor old linesman on there side of the pitch is still recovering from earache!! Tigers deserved an equaliser but Stow were to show just why they will soon but crowned Champions as from one of their few real chances in the 2nd half they scored with a fine header to make it 3-1. Tigers could have given up at this stage but to their credit they kept pressing, Ronaldo Stubbs and Scott Mc both went close again. Then with time running out Ronaldo Stubbs broke through Stows rear guard and he set up a grandstand finish with a fine goal, 3-2. The teams continued to slug it out and this excellent match was nip and tuck right up to the final whistle but Tigers couldn’t quite get the goal and draw they deserved and Stow (who will be worthy champions) it was who won the match! Well played to both sides and for Keano and the Tigers lets hope they can continue this excellent level of performance for the remainder of the season. That’s it, see you all at the weekend Morton Hall away 12:30 kick off on Sunday. Then its all back to Mrs Daly’s for a Sunday Roast YIPEE!!!!!!!!!!!! MOM: Stow game. Iwan Williams ; Commanded his area well and made some great and brave saves, well played mate.ell and made some great and brave saves, well played mate.
