Upon opening the curtains on Sunday morning, my (and many others I’m sure?) enthusiasm for going out to football dipped considerably ( yes I know I’m a whimp!) but even after my arrival at the theatre of dreams and the subsequent erecting of the goals my usual pre-match excitement was still I’m ashamed to say very low!! It was FREEZING !! Thankfully conditions improved, in fact by the time Mrs P arrived it was positively tropical. For the 2nd game in a row Ipswich Valley A were the visitors, this time in the league cup. Keano had selection worries especially with keeper Iwan the cat Williams unavailable after a fight with a tree……… which he lost ! Ex- tigers keeper Matthew Pepe Le P answered Keano’s crys for help by agreeing to come out of retirement for this match (despite the weather, we hope you enjoyed it Matthew?). Luke Walker was also missing meaning a reshuffle of the pack for Keano with Ellie P and Alex the rock Walters playing in unfamiliar roles, striker and wide right respectfully. As we know already both teams like to play decent football but the condition of the pitch would definitely hamper them. After a muddling start Tigers took the lead, Josh Joe Cole Shutlers in-swinging corner found its way into the net. 1-0 ( Well done to Miles mum for spotting this goal while others were asleep on the sidelines !). Despite the boost of the goal Tigers struggled to find any kind of rhythm and it was Valley who dominated for large parts. Tigers defended resolutely Matthew Le P made a great save and Scott Huddlestone Betts an equally great goal-line clearance as Valley pressed. Defenders James Fabergas Blyth, Jarrad Rio Lebbon, George Gallas Fox and the afore mentioned Scottie B battled manfully to keep Valley out, but their resistance was finally broken and Valley were deservedly level, 1-1. Max Ronaldo Stubbs and Miles Drogba Orlopp went close as Tigers tried to reply again but it remained 1-1 at half-time. The conditions were doing Mrs George Foreman Daly no favours but once again she came up with goods and the bacon roll went down a treat (yum yum). Keano worked hard during the interval to rouse his Tiger troops and find that missing sparkle, but despite his best efforts the 2nd half continued in the same way as the first, Valley playing well, while Tigers were unusually flat and frustrated. The visitors scored a quick fire double to gain a 3-1 lead and their confidence was now sky high. Tigers battled on with skipper Harvey Smithy D leading from the front in a bid to keep the Tiger boys in the game. Then brilliant skill from Josh Shutler down the left wing teed-up Josh Lampard Daly who shot just wide, but it was some encouragement for the Tigers. Miles O was having a fine game and the introduction of debutant Eban Robson who did very well were both positives but unfortunately too many Tiger boys were unusually out of sorts and Valley continued to have the upper-hand. Max Ronaldo Stubbs tried to lift the mood with a couple of good runs but the goal wouldn’t come and any hopes that it could still be Tigers day were dashed well and truly when 2 brilliant long range efforts flew into the top corner of Tigers net giving poor Matthew Le P no chance and when that happens you know it definitely is not your day!! It was however fitting that the final goal of the game should come from Tigers Harvey D who picked up Josh Shuts pass and drove the ball into the roof of the net to cap a fine personnel display. 2-5. Our new referee (who we thank very much) blew the final whistle and we congratulate Valley A on a fine display. For Tigers it was one of those days with tiredness and perhaps even down right exhaustion of our players, being the cause of the defeat!! Well if that excuse is good enough for Alex Ferguson and Man Utd then its good enough for the Tiger boys, although Keano’s very good impression of Mr Angry in the after match team talk probably means he won’t agree with me on that one ?? Thanks must go to Matthew Le P and his dad (who was straight back in the groove, helping with the goals etc.) turning out in our hour of need. Well done to Eban who did really well on his debut and we hope you will enjoy playing for the Tigers mate. That’s it, these days happen, we know the boys will pick themselves up, dust themselves down and start all over again next week….Won’t you boys ? . So well done everyone, Thanks to all the helpers and c u all next week. ng display, worked hard and gave a classy performance, well played mate.. Moreton Hall Directories M.O.M: Harvey Dinkele: ( I can sum it up in 1 word) ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT !! , well played mate.
