MATCH REPORT - SUNDAY 27th APRIL (Friendly)

MORETON HALL 7 .BURY TIGERS 1

After the excitement of the previous  weekend, I think we can forgive the Tiger boys for this week’s rather flat 1st half performance…… can’t we???  There were plenty of positives to take from this friendly match, the second half performance was quite good, it was another 11 aside match under our belts and there were good individual  performance, Harvey Dinkele and Elliot Pearson played really well in midfield while George Bishop had a fine game at right back. Boss Rick Walters also used this opportunity to give two of this season’s star defenders, Alex Walters and Clayton Mackie the chance to strut their stuff in midfield rolls for at least some of the match.
Sundays opposition Moreton Hall have combined the best of their two sides from this season into one side ready for next season and should be a force to be reckoned with next season. Hall it was who made nearly all the running in the first half, Tigers keeper Matthew Le Poidevin must have had neck-ache by half-time with at least 4 of Halls 6 goals sailing way over Matthews head and into the HUGE goal, giving him no chance what so ever. Tigers only reply was a goal from striker Luke Walker which meant a score line of 6-1 at H.T.

Tigers performed much better after the re-start but despite having chances were unable to find another goal and Hall it was who finished the match with a late goal to complete victory.
We again thank our new club linesman for his assistance on Sunday, I’m also told by a reliable source that Mr Fox is a very keen runner and actually ran all the way to Needham Market for our last 11 aside match, then ran the line!! WOW if this is true I’m very impressed but also Mrs P and I must feel very ashamed of ourselves for continually moaning in the reports about having to DRIVE to the matches, if I had to run to Needham Market I would have to leave on Tuesday morning to get there in time, (and then I’d still probably be late!)

As the season nears the end its time to say a few thank-you’s  to people who have made this season possible for the Bury Tigers. Firstly our sponsor’s HIGHAM FORGE AND FABRICATIONS, their financial backing was crucial for the club, helping us to buy the kit etc. Then there’s Rick, Sally and Treasurer Claire Stubbs,  Rougham Primary School for the use of the pitch, Joe Warner our Referee and everyone else who has made this such a successful and enjoyable first season…………. Was there someone else????..............of course there is, our fabulous secretary Wonderful WAYNE ‘O’ (despite what Mrs P says about him) and his wife Sam, we think your both brill and we thank-you for the hours of continued hard work you put in for the club (hope that’s enough to get me out of the painting on Saturday, please mate??)
In reply to the MAGS report, don’t worry, the goalies dad was just upset that his beloved West Ham were 2-0 up on Saturday, but still couldn’t beat the MIGHTY TOON!!!.... Yes, it was hot, it was a whopper and the grass was green (very observant)…. Of course you were going to buying the drinks this week (yeah yeah)…. Well that’s it I’m off to find my feminine side, something Harvey and Rick think I’ve already found when they saw my lovely baby pink T-shirt on Sunday... “Why are you wearing pink, its for girls” said Harvey quizzically and “sorry Mark I’m afraid you haven’t made the Dads squad for the lads match, perhaps you could help the Mags with the refreshments !!!!! was Rick’s response, Thanks guys, back to black and white strips for me next week.

See you all on Saturday, I hope, brushes at the ready.
