Beautiful warm sunshine greeted us as we arrived at Moreton Halls ground for Tigers latest league match. Tigers were pleased to welcome back 3 of the stars that missed the last match at Stow Town, personally I was even happier to see Mr Tim Fox had returned too, nothing against Harvey D, George Fox or Lukie Walker of course, it’s just Tims such a great guy to have around, he has a bubbly personality, he’s a real happy go lucky chap with a brilliant sense of humour and …..erm … oh yes he likes running the line so I DON’T HAVE TO , welcome back mate. Boss Keano decided to start the match with the same team that did so well in the last game. Tigers started brightly but on a hard bumpy pitch against a team who work hard when they haven’t got the ball and mainly use a route 1 style of play when they do, this wasn’t going to be easy. Max Ronaldo Stubbs and Josh D went close early on but it remained goal less. Tigers were looking reasonably comfortable at the back against the long ball with Scottie Betts and Jarrad Leb working well together in the centre and full backs Ellie P bless him and James Fabregas Blyth doing well both defensively and in linking up with Tigers attacks too. Keano then introduced Georgie Fox, Harvey D and Lukie Walker to the team to keep the side as fresh as possible on this hot afternoon. Ronaldo Stubbs and Josh Shutler went close to scoring for Tigers while at the other end Ellie P made 2 fantastic blocks to deny Hall. In truth the 1st half wasn’t pretty with Tigers being drawn into a kick and rush battle. The Very Barmy Army were keeping themselves entertained with plenty of touchline chatter ranging from Mrs P’s interesting match day outfit ( rumour has it Mr P asked her if she’d got dressed in the dark ? brave fellow). Mrs Daly was letting everyone know in no uncertain terms that she was NOT cooking Sunday roast for anybody (spoil sport), whilst Mrs come dine with me Stubbs’s own cooking skills were being discussed, apparently she doesn’t set the oven timer to let her know when her food is ready she just waits for the fire alarm to go off!!! Anyway on with the footie action otherwise this will become far to much like a Mags report ( sorry), the 1st ended 0-0. Keano’s half time team-talk was simple “play footie like you normally do boys”. Keano’s wish was the Tigers command and the boys came out and knocked the ball about well, Josh Shutler was looking dangerous down the left wing. Lukie Walker was looking lively up front and only the eagle eyed linesman prevented him from a couple of clear runs through on goal. Harvey D and Josh Lampard Daly were in control of the midfield, Harvey D winning countless headers, mostly from up and unders, some of which went up so high I’m sure the ball came down covered in volcanic ash!! Tigers deservedly took the lead after a neat build up which ended with Scott Gerrard Mcgavin finishing with a superb piece of skill, 0-1. Tigers threatened again soon after only this time Scott Mac’s shot hit the Hall post. Tigers defending was excellent for the majority of the game and Iwan the cat Williams And his defence seemed to have worked out that every time they heard the shout “Gamble” from the sidelines that a long ball over the top was imminent. However the law of averages meant Hall were going to get a chance or 2 and after a scramble in the Tigers box they scored to level things up, 1-1, unbelievable ! Thankfully the Tiger boys didn’t panic and continued to knock the ball around. Alex the rock Walters and Ronaldo Stubbs went close to restoring Tigers lead before great combination play between cousins Miles Drogba Orlopp and Scottie Mcgavin did produce the 2nd goal with the latter executing a wonderful chipped finish, 1-2. Tigers were again comfortable but a 3rd goal would make things safe. It almost arrived as the cousins combined again only this time Miles goal bound shot was well blocked. Persistence was to pay off for Tigers as the goal they desired finally arrived and again it owed much to great skill from the boys, Josh Shutlers wonderfully controlled left foot cross from the right hand side was met at the far post by Max Ronaldo Stubbs head and it was 1-3. Tigers saw out the final minutes to record a deserved victory as the spirit in the team once again shone through, well done boys. This weekend see’s Tigers heading off to Ipswich for another day to remember as they play their knockout cup final against Woodbridge Town. Win, lose or draw boys make sure you enjoy the day it’s a reward for all the hard work you’ve put in again this season so GOOD LUCK TIGERS. See you all then I hope. MOM: Harvey Dinkele : Back with a bang, put his head on so many up and unders on Sunday that he came off the pitch 3 inches shorter than when he went on it!! Well played mate. ell and made some great and brave saves, well played mate.
