MATCH REPORT - SATURDAY 8th March STOW TOWN 4 000BURY TIGERS 3 (11-A-SIDE FRIENDLY) Organised chaos, linesmen, off-sides, on-sides, formations 442, 433, 343, 541, Managers pulling their hair out, assistant Managers only assisting the Manager to pull his hair out quicker, Wayne pacing up and down the touchline, goals flying in left , right and centre, supporters ooohhing and aarghhhing while trying to sort out what was going on and 22 lads chasing around a huge great pitch, welcome to the world of 11 aside footie, Bury Tigers. Saturday saw the Tiger boys begin a new stage in an already exciting football journey with a friendly at Stowmarket Town in preparation for next season’s step up. Our first ever big boys match was a great learning curve for everyone from both sides, well done to all the lads who adapted brilliantly and seemed to enjoy themselves (which is the aim of the game). A special well done to our debutant George Fox who along with Josh Shutler (who was playing his 3rd game) are already looking great additions to our squad. A big thank-you to our 2 linesmen (sorry referee’s assistants) Mr Fox (Georges dad) and Master Josh Pearson (Elliot’s brother) your help is much appreciated. Oh and don’t worry Josh our time will come, the toon will win again, 1 day??? Stow won Saturday’s game 4 - 3, Max Stubbs (2) and Josh Shutler scoring Tigers goals, well done to the whole squad, next season will be chaotic, interesting and fun that’s for sure. MATCH REPORT - SUNDAY 9th March NEEDHAM MARKET 1 000BURY TIGERS 5 Tigers were back in league action on Sunday with a trip to Needham Market. We had our now customary laugh about my teams result before the game, although this week Miles Orlopp (Chelsea), Max Stubbs, Jarrad Lebbon (Man Utd) and Harvey Dinkele (Q.P.R) were all strangely quiet. Mr Le Poidevins pre-match ball skills have been noted by Manager Rick and he reckons there is a place on the subs bench for you mate, in the dad’s team (unless any mum’s fancy a game, that is?). Tigers started brightly but Needham showed great resilience. Miles Orlopp and George Bishop went close for Tigers while on the break, Needham kept Matthew Le Poidevin on his toes. Harvey Dinkele who is in great form at the moment, struck 2 thunderbolts from long range which unluckily both hit the Needham crossbar. Good saves from Needham’s keeper late on meant a goalless 1st half. Tigers came out of the traps fast at the start of the second half especially Max ‘play up pompey’ Stubbs who weaved his way through Needham’s defenders to open the scoring. With Max raiding down the right and Elliot Pearson down the left Tiger’s provided some decent football, Max scored his and Tiger’s 2nd and Elliot Pearson’s corner was turned in by striker Luke Walker for no3. Luke had succumb to illness soon after, so we hope he feels better soon. Needham’s spirit and commitment was outstanding and they deservedly pulled a goal back to make it 1 – 3. Tigers responded well and thankfully Elliot Pearson motto was if at 1st you don’t succeed “ keep shooting till the net does bulge” and after a few attempts Elliot got his Fernando Torres head on to coolly hit the back of the net for a deserved goal. Miles Orlopp who had set Elliot up for his goal then teed up Ronaldo Stubbs for his hat-trick goal and another fine game was complete. Well done again boys, 3 league points and an 11 a-side friendly under our belts in another eventful weekend for the Tigers. Man Of Match: Max Stubbs : Scored a free-kick, won and converted a penalty on Saturday, scored a hat-trick and played superbly on Sunday, not a bad weekend I don’t suppose, well done Back to this weeks Match Report
