It was home sweet home again for the Tigers boys this week, yes as with the proverbial London bus we waited ages for 1 then 2 come along together! This week Thurston youth were the visitors for a league cup match on a cold and damp November morn. Skipper Harvey smithy D returned to the squad but James Fabregas Blyth and Fabian Shearer were missing. Thurston are a strong, well organised side and Tigers knew it would be a hard cup tie, however Josh Lampard Daly and Harvey smithy D soon stamped their authority on central midfield to give Tigers the upper-hand, Ellie P and Josh Shutler were threatening down the flanks while strikers Miles Drogba O and Lukie Walker worked hard and gave Thurston defenders no time to settle. Tigers decent start was confirmed with a quick double strike, firstly Harvey D’s precise through ball sent flying winger Elliot Gerrard Pearson through on goal and in the form he’s in at the moment there was no doubt where the ball would end-up. 1-0. Ellie then turned provider as his corner was met by Alex the rock Walters who’s goal bound shot was blocked on the line, Harvey D gleefully tapped in the rebound 2-0. Tigers were producing some great football and Thurston’s keeper had to produce 2 fine saves to keep the score at 2-0, firstly from Ellie P’s shot and then he somehow kept out Lukie Walkers clever lob from Scott Huddlestone Betts fine cross. Thurston’s strikers were getting little chance to shine as Tigers defence looked very secure, Georgie Fox, Alex W, Jarrad L and Scottie Betts working well together while keeper Iwan the cat Williams was commanding his area well. Tigers capped an impressive 1st half display with a 3rd goal, Josh Lampard Daly latching onto Josh Shutler’s pass before thumping in an unstoppable 20 yard drive, 3-0, unfortunately mummy (Delia Daly) was busy preparing the half-time banquet and missed Josh’s wonder goal, so maybe you could repeat it next week at Ipswich valley please Josh, so your mum can see it. The half-time whistle blew and ended arguably Tigers best half of the season? Half-time, wet conditions, pitch cutting up a perfect time for our new grounds-man and his fork wielding, divot replacing team to strut their stuff?.......................... or not!! What happened Mr Betts where were you?? Boss Keano Walters decided to change things slightly at the break, Jarrad was given his first taste of midfield action this season and Miles Drogba O became Miles Ashley Cole O as he moved from Striker to left back. Tigers struck immediately after the re-start, Josh D sent Max Ronaldo Stubbs away and he got back on the goal trail with a typically cool finish, 4-0. Thurston to their credit bounced back and Iwan the cat Williams had to make a fine save to keep them out. Not to be denied Thurston tried again and after Tigers failed to clear a corner they scored their goal 4-1. Tigers had to work hard to regain control Josh Shutler and Luke Walker both impressing as Tigers slowly got back on top. Harvey D and Ronaldo Stubbs both added a 2nd goal each to their own tallies and made it 6 as the Tigers completed a fine display. Miles O had a fine game and a late goal-line clearance capped off his day nicely, 6-1 at the final whistle well done to both sides on a fine match. Once again I must thank everyone for their help and hard work in making the home games possible, give yourselves a pat on the back. Special thanks to Joe our referee, Keano the boss, Deano the grounds-man and Mr Pearson our linesman for the week. On the subject of Mr P (this probably belongs in the Mags Report really but what the hell ) did anyone else smell our linesman this week? He smelt absolutely delicious! What perfume was he wearing? I want some for xmas. Well done everyone c.u all next week. Ipswich away I believe. Morton Hall Directories :MOM; Elliot Pearson: A fine team display with Harvey and Josh D deserving of special mentions but Elliot got the nod this week for another outstanding performance and his consistent high level of performance this season, keep it up mate.
