MATCH REPORT - SUNDAY 30th March

BURY TIGERS 2  000WALSHAM LE WILLOWS 0

Now that’s what I call a super Sunday!!! Ricky Walters barmy army went into Sundays match knowing victory would secure promotion to the 1st division of the Ipswich and Suffolk league, a 2-0 victory did just that. Well done to all the lads, a great achievement for the club. Now, what else happened on Sunday, let me think …erm …oh yes 4-1, that’s 4-1 …by 5 o’clock on Sunday I was doing triple somersaults round the living room, lovely jubbly.

Sunday mornings  match started in lovely sunny conditions and both sides made a bright start to the game. Walsham were a hard working, physical side making Tiger’s work hard to gain the upper hand. Alex Walters and Matty Osborne (sporting his new spiky hair cut) revelled in the physical battle. George Bishop was playing well down the left and his shot almost broke the deadlock but hit the bar and came back out  instead. Harvey Dinkele raided down the Tiger’s right to provide a couple of chances from one of which Miles Orlopps great header hit a defender then the post and went wide, so 0-0 half-time.

Tiger’s continued to Impress after the break, none more so than Clayton Mackie who had a great game in defence and also strode forward on the ball with a growing confidence which was great to see.  Max Stubbs, Jarrad Lebbon and Elliot Pearson linked well to provide chances for live wire striker Luke Walker.

Ronaldo Stubbs great run and cross was well saved, but striker Lukie Walker was on hand to put Tiger’s 1 up. Walsham’s keeper made some brilliant saves but could do nothing to stop lethal Luke from scoring his and Tiger’s second goal to seal victory. Meanwhile at the other end Reading supporter Matthew Le Poidevin  was quietly going about  keeping yet another clean sheet in the Tigers goal.

A BIG  thank you goes  to our Ref for standing in at the last minute on Sunday, Mr Martin Dinkele took the whistle, a hard task at the best of times and  the over enthusiasm of one or two made this game slightly harder than it should have been !!

It’s  good to hear our Tiger boys are watching plenty of footie too, Matthew Le P went to Anfield a couple of weeks ago, Jarrad went to watch Cambridge Utd, Mattie O watches Bury Town a lot, Alex, George, Elliot and Harv went to watch Ipswich v QPR (Harvey tells me QPR were robbed and should have won easily ?). Hope you are all picking up a few tips while watching but of course if you want proper football you should be watching the TOON !!

And finely : Next weeks report will be written by our budding new club reporter Mrs Pearson, (who needs an incentive to watch the game more  vigilantly) Yep apparently Elliot’s mum really wants to write next seasons reports and so wants a practice run next week – Yepeeeeee. It’s all yours Mrs P.

Well done everyone see you next week ( 2 games), 11 aside Saturday, Tollgate in the  league on Sunday, Oh that means 2 match reports, in at the deep end for our new reporter,  “ SWEET” !!!

MARK LEBBON

Man Of Match: Alex Walters : Solid as a rock.
